This is a bit late and it actually happened before Bath but im sure you can forgive me because I have been busy seeing stuff.

When we arrived in Barcelona I was expecting there to be people trying to take our luggage for us and people haggling us….not the case. I don’t know why but I had a view of it in my head as being similar to Mexico and it is not, it was completely different.

Customs was a breeze and took all of 20 seconds, we then got on a bus that took us straight into the center of the city and stated the walk to our hotel. It took a little longer to get to our hotel because the streets sign system is really difficult to understand but we got there in the end.

Our hotel was nice but more importantly it was in the center of the city which is great as we were going to be in Barcelona for four days. The first night was a light one as we had been traveling and we just went out for dinner and some wine.

We set the alarm for 8:30 am and ended up getting out of the hotel at about 11:00am (dam you sleep button). This was OK though as we went into the closest tourist information building and got maps and all the gear we needed for the day. We decided that we would do the double deck-er bus that takes you around the whole city. It is a hop on hop off deal where you just get off at the places you want to see and get on at the next place.

Barri Gotic Catedral

Barri Gotic Cathedral

We went to a large cathedral called Barri Gotic Cathedral, It had many alters from other churches that are long gone from around the world. Some of the alters were over 2000 years old.

Olympic Parc

One thing that was great to see was the Olympic park where they held the 1992 Olympics, It was empty though but has a great view over the city.

Sagrada Familia

We also got to see Gaudi’s “Sagrada Familia” which is a monster of a church that started construction over 60 years ago and is still being constructed today. He new he wasn’t going to see the end of construction and it is no funded by donations. The two sides are very different but when it is finished (they don’t know when that will be) It will be worth going back to see.

Park Guell

Park Guell

We also went to Gauidi’s Park “Park Guell” and walked around there for a while, It had really great views of the city and we could see everywhere we had been. After seeing Gauidi’s work lydia and I are quite positive that he was smoking the crack pipe for most of his life.

The following day we slept in…again but we still managed to see a lot of the city, we walked around for a lot of the day looking in museums and checking out the local art.
On our last day we managed to get to the airport 4 hours early……we decided that it was no ones fault.

Flying around Europe is easy, really easy. It costs almost nothing to fly and everything is within about a 4 hour flight range.

Also Barcelona is meant to be known for its pickpockets and thieves, Im happy to say that I outwitted them and some may even say beat them.

You can see all our Barcelona photos here or see all my photos from all time on flickr.
