On the ms Noordam in the Caribbean

This Caribbean season was more work than play. There was some beach time but after Jayne left there were very few photos. Still was good fun but work was the priority. Many of the ports were new to me and I really enjoyed the Dutch ports of call, very different to the rest of the Caribbean (I thought anyway).

Dominica and cabin parties

Posted March 5th, 2007 in Dominica, Roseau by Brodie McCulloch

dominicaLast night there was a crew comedy night, they have an improv show on at the moment for guests and they had a special screening in the stardust theatre (at 11:30!). We had been in the crew bar before hand so it made the act even funnier. After the show the crew bar was packed, but due to it closing at 2am I decided to join one of the many cabin parties that were erupting throughout the ship. So I partied for a while then retired to sleep as I had work at 7:15am.

By the time I had woken up we were docking Roseau, Dominica. It is a member of the EU and became independent in 1979, and then a massive hurricane came through (cant remember which one) and flattened the place.

After getting all the passengers on tours I went on the Indian River boat tour, it was good and showed you a lot of the island. I also got to try the Rum Punch, which is famous throughout the Caribbean; it is everywhere and is some potent stuff. The passengers who I was having it with were struggling to get it down. It was a good pick-me-up before work at 6 – 9.

I have a security briefing now and need to get stuff together for tomorrow. It is going to be another busy day as we are docking in Bridgetown, Barbados.

p.s. I will get to an internet café tomorrow and upload all these photos I have taken. Sorry for the delay.
