Finally, I can breath under water

Yes I got my open water scuba diving qualification last Cozumel. It only took 3 days instead of 4 so that was really good and now all I need to do is male the paper work once in Miami.

It is good to be able to breath underwater and I am sure it will come in handy at some point, I will have to organise some dives for when I get home on March 30th. But I think I will be able to go diving in many of the ports before I leave which is going to be awesome.

I will be home between March 30th and April 15th so if anyone wants to go diving anywhere let me know, I think I will have a lot of free time.

I finally organized to get open water scuba qualified in Cozumel, tomorrow I have my second lesson which I am excited about. On the first lesson we got straight into it and were underwater in about 10 minuets after some brief instructions…….I love mexico.

There is a group of us doing it from the ship, 2 youth councilors, one shop guy and one other shore ex staff. Everyone really enjoyed the first dive, it was off the beach but I got to see a eel which made mel (one of the YC’s) freak out. Gold.

It Is working out to be really cheap but is going to take 4 Cozumel’s to get qualified because we are only there every second week. At least I will have done something really good this contract (and saved money and learnt Spanish and got fit…..oh-o).

So I should be fully qualified in about 1 more month, it will be worth it though.

We have started offering a private yacht tour and lobster lunch this season, it looked good but was $2500 for 12 people which I thought could make it hard to sell. After going on it tour I am sure that it would be well worth the money.

The yacht is a $600,000 luxury vessel that has a bar, bed, living area and bathroom, it also has a couch on the front which was nice to lay on for the whole trip.

Even though it was a evaluation trip we took Patrick and Brittany along with the rest of the shore ex team (besides matt who was on the mainland).

We were picked up from the ship at about 12 noon and then headed for the other side of the island. They took us to a private beach where we were able to swim right off the boat, I am glad my camera is waterproof because the water was so clear I had to go swimming with it.

After a swim we had lunch and headed back to the ship (there was work to do). But this week there was a hurricane in the Caribbean so the water was rough, it took about twice the amount of time to get back (it was fun though).

Cozumel, or as I like to call it “Island of Dreams”

I am not sure why I call it “Island of Dreams”, but there has to be a island out there called “Island of Dreams” and I thought Cozumel could be it.

I had all day duty, so I was on the pier. But then I went and checked out one of the new tours that our operators have started. It was a Dolphin swim at one of the national parks. I didn’t go swimming with the dolphins (the one in Belize was better) but I did go snorkeling and lay in the sun for a bit.

There were also some Myan ruins there and some other good stuff, it was nice to see what we were selling.

big myan headAlso I walked passed Carlos & Charlies without going in and having a drink so that was something different.

Next cruise one of the operators has got me a Jeep so I am going to drive around Cozumel, they told me it should only take an hour without stopping so it should be a fun day (it will also be my last day there for 5 weeks).

after cutting my hand up in Tortola I have had another accident. I was coming back from cozumel and was going up some stairs in ship, then my thong went under the step and tripped me, then my big toe hit the top of the step and cut it deep, I walked back to my room, put my foot in a plastic bag then got some people to come with me to the medical center where I got 5 stiches. Im still working though.

We are just in belize at the moment and I have a tone of photos that I want to upload, but I havenâ€™t had a chance to get to a internet cafÃ©. I will in a few days though.

This is the second last time we will be doing the 5 day cruise. Also in Barbados next time I will be going to see the South Africa VS England, it should be good.

Anyway Im off to the gym and pool. I will try to get the photos up soon.

Spring Break !!! WOOOOHHHOOOOO

yes it is spring break……. i have seen some funny stuff this cruise, the boat is full of drunkin teans. It is gold. We are currently back in belize and i managed to find some internet access so i uploaded all the photos from the last cruise.

I will post more on the Spring Break stuff later as there is alot to tell. But now i need to get back to work and make sure all their drunk asses get on the boat before we leave.

p.s. Have a look at the where i am now page, it is looking impressive.

Snorkelling in Cozumel

Today I we docked in Cozumel, Mexico. I worked in the morning to make sure everyone got on their tours, but then I went snorkelling which was fun except the reef there wasnâ€™t that great. After snorkelling I went for a look around cozumel. It was an interesting city, sort of reminded me of Bali. But a lot of the things there have been paid for by the cruise ship companies after there was a hurricane last year the whole place was trashed but they rebuilt and are back in business.

After the look around one of the girls from shore ex who is leaving was having a party at clarlos and charlies which is a crazy Mexican bar. Mia is the person I replaced, but I think she is coming back in a month. So after a few beers with the tour operators who are all cool blokes we had to go back on board the shipâ€¦â€¦and work from 6-9. This was one of the more interesting times I have worked in my life. Straight after that I went to sleep as I have been in the crew bar the previous 2 nights.
